WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Librarywill hold a staff recognition and in-house training session, to be held at the
Amherst H. Wilder facility on October 13, 2008 at a cost not to exceed $5500, and,
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library has received donated monies from the Friends of the Library, Perrie
Jones Library Fund, which will pay the entire cost for the event, and,
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library staff require regular and ongoing training better to meet the rapidly
changing needs of the communities they serve and this session allows all staff to be present in one place,
NOW, THEREFORE, it is Ordered that library officials are authorized and directed to undertake the staging of the
event and remit the cost not to exceed $5500 for the program to the proper parties.

Initiating Probtem, Issues, Opportunity (Who, What, When, Where, Why):
The Library will have an all day traiuing session on October 13, 2008 during which time the Library will be closed and all staff will
attend. The cost will not exceed $5500.
Advantages If Approved:
All staff will be together for the training eliminating the need for multiple sessions. Staff recognirion will also be part of the day.
Disadvantages If Approved:
None.

The staff would not be able to take advantage ot the training sessions.
