Whereas, there have been an increasing number of real estate directional si�ns piaced in the Pubiic Right
4 of Way, and;

6 Whereas, real estaTe directional signs are defined as signs that aze typically placed in boulevard, sidewalk
7 or median areas in the public right of way with the intent to direct a prospective buyer or renter to a
8 propefty far sale ar rent at a nearby ]ocation, and;

10 Whezeas, real estate directional signs add clutter and detract from aesthetics of city neighborhoods, and;
11
12 Whereas, installation of real estate direcriottal signs in the public right of way without a pernut or
13 permission is in violation of Chapter 64 of St. Paul Legislative Code, and;
14
15 Whereas, the Director of Public Works has determined that real estate directional signs that are placed in
16 the public right of way in violation of Chapter 64 are also a nuisance as defined in Chapter 45 of City
17 Legislative Code;

� Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Public Works Department shall begin immediate enforcement and
emergency abatement of reai estate directional signs located in the public right of way.

There has been an inerease in citizen complainu regazding the proliferarion of real estate d'uectional signs being placed in the public
right of way, causing clatter and detracvng from the aesthetics of our neighborhoods.
