WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Police DepartmenYs Western District has started a Police Athletic League
called "Good Game" to create better relations with the youth in the Summit University and Frogtown
neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, this program is scheduled to run for the entire year from January 1 to December 31, 2003,
and will be condueted at various locations including sports facilities, schools and recreation centers; and
WHEREAS, this program is designed to meet the youth's needs For safety, love, respect, freedom and
fun so that they can achieve their potential and remain drug free and stay out of the juvenile justice
system through athletic and educational activities including, but not limited to basketball, bowling, golf,
volleyball and soccer; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department will provide lunch, snacks, and incentives including
T-shirts, trophies, and tickets to athletic, recreation andlor educational events for the program; and
WHEREAS, The public purpose of the lunch, snacks, and incentives is to enhance police/community
relations and to aid in prevenfion of juvenile crime.
BE IT ORDERED, That pursuant to the 2003 City Budget, the proper City O�cials are hereby authorized
to remit an amount not to eaceed $4,000.00 to various vendors. This is to cover lunch, snacks and
incentives for the Good Game program. A copy of said order is to be kept on £le and on record in the
Office oFFinancial5ervices.
