Please see the scanned reports and photos secondary to a fall which occurred on April 9th,
2024 at approximately 9:30 AM. This occurred at the location of 263 and 269 LexingtonParkway South.
A large couple of squares of concrete have settled, broken and have been hazardous for
approximately 8 YEARS, per residents at the above numbered homes. A large tree with wideroots had been removed from that area and, subsequently, the concrete settled and broke
causing the multiple uneven surfaces. This had been promised, previously, again according tothe residents, to be repaired, and never has been. I was walking that morning on that particular
street and heard a big noise from behind me, on Lexington, and while walking, turned to seewhat type of machine/vehicle was making the noise and how close they were. The next thing I
knew I was face down on the concrete with blood spewing from my nose, my forehead feelingenlarging and "squishy" and the wind knocked out of me. I slowly rolled to my side and with
no way to control the blood from my nose, tried to assess what had happened and what myinjuries were. A lady driving on Lexington stopped, brought me a good half dozen tissues and
then another lady stopped also. A full box of tissues was given to me and the second lady whocame drove me to my elderly parent's home where I then knew that an ED visit would be
indicated for the enlarging forehead, contusions, and what I thought was probably facialfractures. Since I am not from St. Paul, but have family here, I called my brother to take me to
seek medical care, including an Urgent Care who sent us to an ED, where we spent the next 6hrs.
Due to the fact that I was in St. Paul to assist in the care of my elderly mother, and the fact thatnow I would need assistance myself as well as accommodation due to restrictions in lifting,
bending, driving, seeing well, sleeping in an upright position, etc. and would need to seekmore medical attention myself, it was apparent that I could not continue to help my mother,
and may even need more medical help, I had to forego my original return plane ticket, purchase another one-way, and come back to Montana where I had family members and
medical care to assist me.
The large sidewalk defect needs to be corrected! The years that that has been a problem is notacceptable to have not been repaired. For the safety of any and all walking, running, traveling
on any other mode ( skates, scooter, etc), this must be repaired or other, more significantinjuries could occur.
I am not asking for any big remuneration for the weeks of swelling, discomfort, ruined glasses,
extra plane ticket home and then a return to again try to assist my mom as originally planned. Ihad to cancel engagements, hire my own lawn care assistants, etc. for the month it took to no
longer have medical restrictions. The $2500.00 is just a basic start of what this injury cost memonetarily.
Please evaluate the enclosed paperwork on my own behalf.
Thank you.
