Finally, the metropolitan area's first Light Rail Transit(LRT) system is scheduled to open later
this month. In anticipation of this long-awaited event, the City of Saint Paul has scheduled a tour
of the LRT line for City Council members and Community Council leaders at 7:45 a.m.,Friday,
June 18. I'd like to formally invite you to attend. If you have already submitted the names of the
persons who will go on the tour, you do not have to submit the names again.
This should be an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand how this new line will help serve the
metro area's transit needs. Metro Transit officials will host the event, offering us a chance to ride
along the Hiawatha corridor and observe the ongoing and potential job creation and business
development.
The group will meet at the Light Rail Transit Station at 46th Street South and Hiawatha Avenue
in Minneapolis. Parking is being arranged for you.
We would appreciate your response by Friday, June 11,2004,to Don Johnson in my office at
266-8520 if you have not already done so. I hope that you can attend.
Sincerely,
Randy C. Kelly
Mayor
