WHERESA , there was heretofore presented to the Board of. Aldermen,
one of the branches of the Common Council of the City of St. Paul, a
,petition of St. Luke' s Hospital, a corporation, and others, praying
for the vacation of all that portion of the alley in Block Sixty-Six
of Dayton & Irvine' s Addition to St. Paul hereinafter described, said
petitioners being the owners of all the property on the line of that
portion of said alley hereinafter described, said petition being veri-
fied as required by law, being accompanied by a plat of the alley pro-
posed to be vacated and setting forth the facts and reasons for such
vacation, and
WHEREAS, said Board of Aldermen deemed it expedient that the
matter therein recited should be proceeded with and ordered the said
petition and the accompanying plat to be filed of record in the office
of the City Clerk of said City of St. Paul, and ordered the said Clerk
to give notice by publication in the official paper in said City of St.

/ St. Luke' s Hospital, a corporation, Alexander E. Horn and
N Eugene 2. Elliott, all residentoi' said City of St. Paul, petitioners
herein, allege that they are the owners of all the property on the
line or that part, wnicn your petioners ask to have vacated, of
the public alley hereinafter described, and are a majority of the
owners of property on the line of said entire. alley, owning all
or said property except Lot 3.
Your petitioners hereby petition and pray that your non-
orable body vacate and discontinue all tnat portion of the alley
in Block Sixty-Six (36) of Dayton and Irvine' s Addition to St.
Paul , in said City of St. Paul, which is situated between Lots
4, 5 and 8 on the northwest and Lots 9 to 12 inclusive on the
southeast in said block, and extends from Sherman Street north-
easterly to the northeasterly line of said lots 4 and 12 pro-
ducea across said alley.
Your petitioners further allege and show that said St.
Luke' s Hospital desires and intends to enlarge its present hospital
building and that such enlargement can be made advantageously only
by constructing an addition thereto across said alley; and it in-
tends to use for purposes of its. hospital the remaining portion
or said alley proposea to be vacated.
