CITY OF ST . PAUL.

1 .r,,r
We, the undersigned, owners of Lots three (3) , four (4) ,
five (5) , six (6) and seven (7) in Block (1) of Hopkins' Second
Addition to the City of St . Paul, 'according to the plat thereof on file
and of record in the office of the Register of Deeds of Ramsey County,
Minnesota , being all of the owners of the property abutting on that por-
tion of the alley which is hereby sought to be vacated, do hereby
respectfully petition your Honorable Body to vacate and discontinue the
south one hundred twenty-three and forty-seven one-hundredths (123.47)
feet of the alley running north and south through said Block # of
Hopkins' Second Addition to the City of St . Paul. The facts and reasons
for such vacation are as follows, to-wit :
There are two alleys in said block, one running north and
south from Minriehaha street to Van Buren street, the other running east
and west from Fry street to intersect with the alley running north and
south. The typography of the ground is such that that part of the alley
sought to be vacated is much lower than the grade of Van Buren street ,
and in order to render said alley fit for use , it will be necessary that
the same be filled and leveled, to the great expense of your petitioners.
That in consideration of the vacation of said part of the
above alley, one of the undersigned, E. T . Winston, hereby agrees to
deed and dedicate for use as an alley the west fifteen feet of Lot 6 ,
Block j, Hopkins' Second Addition to the City of St . Paul, which last
mentioned strip will make an alley to intersect with the alley running
east and Nest , and will give access to lots owned by a greater number of
persons than does the present north and south alley .
