Gentlemen:-
Th.e undersigned owners of more than half the property
on the line of that certain public alley in the city of St. Paul
known and described as the north and south alley in Block No. 31
of Dewey, Drake and Pence's Addition to the city of St. Paul, as is
more particularly shown by the plat thereof hereto annexed and hereby
made a part hereof, respectfully petition your honorable body to
order the vacation of the easterly five (5) feet and the westerly
five (5) feet of said alley and close the said easterly five (5)
feet and the westerly five (5) feet to public travel.
Your petitioners respectfully represent that said alley
has at present a width of twenty (20 ) feet; that in the same block and
running from Jay Street to Louis Street in an easterly and westerly
direction there is another twenty (20 ) foot alley; that the mainten-
ance of the north and south alley at a width of ten (10 ) feet is all
that is needed to subserve the public interests or the accomodation
of all public traffic thereon.

Resolved, tX by the assembly of the city of St .Paul to which

for the vacation of the easterly five feet and the westerly five
feet of the north and south alley in Block 3 of .Dewey, Drake and
Pence ' s Addition to the city of St .Paul , has been presented by the
petitioners , that it is deemed expedient that the matt -•r set forth
in said petition shall be proceeded with; and
IT IS ORDERED that said petition be filed of record with
the city clerk, who shall give notice by publication in the official
paper of the city, for four weeks, at least once a week, to the
effect that said petition has been filed as aforesaid, and stating
in brief its object, and that said petition will be heard a--,_d con-
sidered by the committee on streets of the said body of th common
council on a day and at a place to be specified in said notice , not
less than ten days from the expiration of the publication of said
notice .
