Dear Sir:
This is in reply to your letter of May 17, 1971 regarding a
petition to vacate the alley in Block 1, Oliver and Murphy's
Addition, lying between Case Street on the north and Sims Street
on the south, beginning 180 feet east of Hazelwood Street and
dead-ending 240 feet further east.
Our company now maintains two service poles in this alley which
provide service to 1560 Case Avenue and 1583 Sims Avenue. The
Northern States Power Company also uses the same poles for
providing electric service. It is recommended that a utility
easement be provided for maintenance of this plant should the
alley be vacated.

Re: Proposed vacation of alley in
BLK. 1 , OLIVER AND MURPHY'S
ADDITION.
Dear Mr. Donovan:
The hearing for the proposed vacation of the alley in Block 1 , Oliver and
Murphy's Addition is scheduled for June 23, 1971 .
This alley is unimproved, and it is platted to a width of 16 feet and a
length of 240 feet.
A substantial amount of material has been excavated from this block and
within the area of the alley. Sims Avenue is a platted and unimproved
street 103.87 feet south of the alley and a 2 to 1 slope must be maintained
northerly from the north side of Sims Avenue.
The Department of Public Works recommends that the proposed vacation be
approved, subject to the maintenance of the necessary slope protection of the
existing grade of Sims Avenue as indicated above.
Very truly yours,
Richard 0, 'awkins
