ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER
Date: FEB 1 9 1915
ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER, That due to the sudden and unexpected take-
over by the City of the Masonic Temple Building, 130 North Smith
Avenue , the proper city officers (herein named) are authorized
and directed to take the following steps to secure and protect
the building:
1. Mr. Miles McDermott, of 1783 Carroll Ave . , Saint Paul , a
First Class Engineer, is authorized to be hired at a rate
of $5 per hour for a period up to 60 days to maintain the
heating system in the Masonic Temple, to prevent any damage
from freezing. Mr. McDermott ' s wages shall not exceed
$1,600, nor shall his period of emergency employment exceed
60 days.
2. The emergency repairs to the heating system are hereby
authorized, and such purchases as are necessary to maintain
the system may be made without competitive bids . Supplies
and equipment for maintaining the heating system shall not
exceed $1, 500.
3. Telephone service in the Masonic Temple is hereby authorized
to be installed.
• 4. Glenn Erickson, City Architect, is authorized and directed
to 'supervise , direct and coordinate the above tasks and
to execute such documents as are necessary to accomplish
those purposes.
5. Glenn Erickson, City Architect, is also authorized to take
such action and purchase such materials as are necessary
to secure the Masonic Temple from vandalism.
6. Glenn Erickson, City Architect, Roger Mattson, Director
of Finance & Management Services , Richard Schroeder, Budget
Director, and William Peter, Purchasing Agent, are directed
to coordinate the purchase of such materials as herein
authorized and to take such action as is necessary to pay for
the goods and services herein authorized.
