WHEREAS, [he Minnesota Police Reserve Officers Association (MPROA), is a non profit organization whose mission
amongst others is to serve the unique needs of police reservists in Minnesota in the focm of support, training and recognition
of Minnesota volunteer ]aw enforcement officers; and
WHEREAS, the MPROA wishes to grant an award to the City of Saint Paul Po]ice Reserves in the amount of $3,450 for the
sole purpose af purchasing ballistic vests; and
WHEREAS, a 2010 financing and spending plan needs to be established for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursua�t to Section 10.071 of tha Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that Chere are
available for appropriation funds of $3,450 in excess of those estimated in the 2010 budget and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following addition be made to the 2010 bUdget:

Subject: Police Budget Amendment to establish financing & spending plan for donation
from MN Police Reserve Officers
Date: 7uly 2, 2010
The attached resolution accepts a donation from the MN Police Reserve O�cers Association and
establishes a financing and spending plan. The donation provides funding for ballistic vests for reserve
officers. The budget would be amended to increase financing and spending by $3,450.
Because this will amend the Police budget, this will require a public heazing. It will be on the Council's
agenda July 21 as the first and trurd meetings each month aze the opportunities for budget
amendments.
This proposal seems reasonable, I recommend signing.
