It is the most visible element to PED's commercial management organization strategy, and a key element in marketing PED's small business services. It will cost about $5,728, of which $3,000 will come from registrations and business contributions and be applied to hotel accommodations (food and beverage, since the space is free). The $2,807 for consultants will be paid from the consultant line item in the NDD budget. The attached administrative order authorizes expenditures for this purpose, and the attached letter of confirmation from the hotel confirms our reservation. VANTAGES IF APPROVED: The 1989 and 1990 conferences grabbed the attention of neighborhood merchants and energized their business associations, many of which have developed organizationally as a result. The 1991 conference is designed to broaden the participation in neighborhood business associations by seeking to engage other businesses on the commercial strip--service professionals, non-profit organizations, real estate agents, and property owners-- in a dialogue about their roles and responsibilities in the revitalization of the neighborhood commercial strip.
