INITIATING PROBLEM,ISSUE,OPPORTUNITY(Who,Whet,When,Where,Why): The Police Department stores unclaimed bikes at its Impound Lot. The bikes are stored in the open where they rust and weeds grow around them. Consequently, when these bikes are sold at auction their market value is diminished. A Pole Barn can be built to shelter bikes and other unclaimed police property such as boats, motors, slot machines and other large .items that must be preserved. Bikes stored outside usually average $15 at auctions. Those stored inside average $39. We sell 480 annually for net increase of 24 x 480 = $11 ,520 annually or a payback on investment of 13 months. ADVANTAGES IF APPROVED: The City will increase its revenue by approximately $11 ,250 per year and have a return on i.nvestiment within 13 months. DISADVANTAGES IF APPROVED: None known.
