ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER,
WHEREAS, the Manager Corps and the Wellness Program are co-sponsoring a
stress management workshop titled "Thriving Skills: Stress Management
for Managers," and
WHEREAS, this workshop will give fifteen managers an opportunity to
explore, discover and implement strategies to deal with stress, and
WHEREAS, this workshop will also provide the City with one City
employee who will be able to provide this training in the future to
City employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Personnel Office - Training
and Development Division be authorized to arrange for a two-day workshop
that includes:
• group workshop sessions held at Koinonia Retreat and Conference Center
• reimbursement of meals
• arrangements for an overnight stay at Koinonia Retreat and Conference
Center
• ° reimbursement for instructional materials
° focus group meeting held prior to retreat at the Kellogg Square
Apartment conference room
The expenses for this workshop are not to exceed One Thousand Five
Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) and will be paid out of the General Fund,
Activity Code 00157, Object Code 0219.

We have budgeted funds for the training for managers that is outlined in the attached
resolution. This is simply a request for authority to spend the funds.
ADVANTAGES IF APPROVED:
Several managers will receive skills in dealing with stress and we will have a City
employee who is trained to perform this sort of training.
DISADVANTAGES IF APPROVED:
None.
DISADVANTAGES IF NOT APPROVED:
We will miss the opportunity to train managers in dealing with stress and we will
miss the opportunity to train a City employee as a trainer in this area.
