1 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to help the 5aint Paul Police
2 Deparhnent in many ways including insuring that public safety for our citizens remains the number one
3 priority for our city; and

5 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundarion boazd of directors has approved the granting/donation of
6 $507,750 to the SPPD, and;
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept the donation; and

WHEREAS, the SPPD wiil use $500,040 for the Saint Paul Safe City Initiative Program which is a
public/private partnership between the SPPD, area institutions and businesses to build trust, share
information and leverage technology to deter and reduce crime in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the centerpiece of the program is a network of surveillance cameras deployed in Saint
Paul along University Avenue, Saint Paul's downtown azea, and around the Port of Saint Paul on the
Mississippi River; and
WHEREAS, �5,250 will be used for a computer for the Western District and $2,500 will be used for
registration fees at the Asian Organized Crime and Terrorism conference/training; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extend its
sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
