WHEREAS, The Commissioner f Public works has reported, in accordance with
the Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from January 26 through February 1, 1956, which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Depart-
ment of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours
per week in doing the following work:
Removing snow and ice from city streets
Sanding icy streets
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Necessity of keeping city streets free from
snow and ice
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby authorized
to pay the employees. who performed work in accordance with the pro-
visions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
