RESOLVED, That the Purchasing Agent be, and he is hereby authorized with the consent
of the Comptroller, to purchase from HERSEY METER MANUFACTURING COMPANY, without
advertisement or competitive bids, approximately fourteen 3", eight 4", and seven 6"
Compound Meters, over a period of one year, as the Water Department believes (and
aftecthorough investigation, the Purhhasing Committee concurs) that this firm's
meters have distinct advantages as to operation, repair and maintenance over other
compound meters, namely, bronze casing, bypass can be valved off and replaced without
removing entire meter; has best compounding valve made; and bypass meteriis designed
to operate any time large meter is in use. These are patented articles and no
