A _ _ DATF WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Works has reported, in r p , i accordance with Sec- tion 53 of the City Cha 7r, the existence of an emergency during the per- iod from March 1 to 15, 1956, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair Dispatching men for emergency repair work Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work Operating equipment on emergency work Emergency calls for sewer maintenance Removing snow from city streets Tending fires at Asphalt Plant continuously Emergency garbage pickup Taking complaints at city yards Drawing plans for grading & paving jobs • Mimeographing grade profiles & house numbers Servicing municipal equipment Making up sidewalk assessments Completing payroll work Inspecting local improvement projects And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum- stances: Necessity of answering all emergency calls, keeping city streets free from snow, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant con- tinuously, picking up gargage, taking complaints at city yards, completing paving & grading plans, need for grade profiles & house numbers, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping city equipment in good running condition, completing payroll work and inspecting local improvement projects. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED Thath the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro- visions of the Council"s salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 64+4+6.
