WHEREAS, The City Clerk has reported, in accordance with Section S3 of
the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the
period from Feb. 4th to Mar, 10th, 1956, which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the City
Clerk's Office for more than eight hours per day or forty
hours per week in doing the following work:
Preparing for the City Primary Election, Mar, 20th, 1956.
AND WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
The office was required by Minnesota Election Laws to be
open Saturdays and nights until.9:00 P.M. for registration
of voters from February 17th to February 28th, 1956.
Employees worked until 9:00 P.M. nights and Saturdays to
complete the registrations and changes of address. Empleyees
working in the voting machine warehouse tl'lwe required to work
overtime to prepare and check the voting machines.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby authorised
to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with
the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No 6446-'
