Commissioner Robert T. Gibbons
Department of Public Utilities
City of St. Paul, Minnesota
Dear Sir:
The St. Paul City Railway Company has requested authorization from the
Railroad and Warehouse Commission for an extension of the Jackson-So. Robert
bus line to operate into the area both north and south of the St. Paul city
limits. This extension requires authorization on the part of the city for
operation on Jackson Street from Timberlake Road to Larpenteur Avenue.
At the present time the. Jackson Street line operates on Jackson to Sixth
Street southbound and then turns over to Robert Street. On the return
trip the route changes from Robert Street to Jackson Street on Fifth Street.
These turning movements in the loop have been subject to criticism from
the standpoint of traffic control, and it is the recommendation of this
department as well as the Traffic Bureau that this line operate on Robert
Street north as far as Twelfth Street and on Twelfth Street to Jackson
Street.
The company is also in accord with this change. The attached resolution
incorporates the route changes due to the extension as well as this amend-
ment to the route through the loop.
yoyxt very truly,
Edwin F. Jones
Utilities Engin.
