Mr. Robert T. Gibbons
Commissioner of Public Utilities
City of St. Paul, Minnesota
Dear Sir:
During recent construction work on Ramsey Street, the Grand-
Mississippi bus line was detoured to operate over Pleasant
Avenue and Kellogg Boulevard. A very favorable reaction of
this detoured route was developed through the improved ser-
vice to St. Luke's and the Childrens Hospital.
The St. Paul City Railway Company has requested permanent
authority to operate over Pleasant Avenue, and the attached
resolution is designed to make this change in the bus route
permanent.
ry truly you,

Attention: Mr. Oliver A. •Ossanna, Secretary
Gentlemen:
Re: Grand-Mississippi Bus Line
A detour was established on the Grand-Mississippi line last fall on
account of street work on Ramsey St. This work is now completed, but
the temporary detour is still in operation.
Many requests have reached this company during these several months
to permanently change the route to follow the detour. This route is
favor?d by the City Traffic Engineer, the Public Utilities Department,
as well as by this company. In that several other lines operate on
W. Seventh St. at this location, no hardship should arise as a result.
The traffic pattern that will develop shortly with the installation of a
semaphore at Seven Corners will be considerably improved with such an
operation.
We, therefore, ask that the route of the Grand-Mississippi line be
amended between Pleasant and Ramsey and Seven Corners to operate
on Pleasant Ave. instead'of on Ramsey and W. 7th St.
The route would then be as follows:
Commencing at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Cretin
Avenue; thence on Grand Avenue to Oakland Avenue; thence on
Oakland Avenue to Pleasant Ave.; thence on Pleasant Ave. tp
Kellogg Blvd.; thence on Kellogg Blvd. to West Fourth Street;
thence on Fourth Street to Broadway; thence on Broadway to Mississippi
Street; thence on Mississippi Street to York Avenue; thence on York
Avenue to Westminster Street; thence on Westminster Street to
Case Avenue; thence on Case Avenue to Arkwright Street; thence
on Arkwright Street to Maryland Avenue; thence on Maryland Avenue to
Forest Street; thence on Forest Street to Wheelock Parkway; thence
northerly into Phalen Park over roadway constructed in location
previously occupied by street railway tracks to a turnaround.
