WHEREAS, Alfred H. Schroeder, City Architect, has re-
quested the City Council to hold a public hearing to consider
any complaints about the expense incurred by the City of Saint
Paul in removing a dangerous structure at 174 West College
Avenue, more particularly described as Except Northeast 26
feet, Lot 3, Block 61, Irvine's Enlargement of Rice & Irvine 's
Addition; and

WHEREAS, it appears that the last known record owners of
said property are as follows:

about the expense incurred by the City of Saint Paul and to
confirm the amount thereof; be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Architect notify by mail
the record owners of the property in question at the last known
addresses.

public hearing to confirm the expense in the amount of 5h-1 AP incurred
by the city in connection with the wrecking of a dangerous. structure at
174 W. College Ave., also described as: except northeast 26 feet, Lot 3,
Block 61, Irvine's Enlargement of Rice & Irvine's Addition, as more fully
described in the attached letter of Alfred H. Schroeder.

In this matter, the following resolutions were adopted by the City
Council:
C.F. 167400, adopted March 3, 1954 (published March 6, 1954) set
a public hearing at ten A.M. in the Council Chambers on March 24,
1954.
C. F. 167722, adopted March 25, 1954 (published March 27, 1954)
ordered the wrecking by and at the separate cost and expense of
the owner, occupant, or other person in control thereof.
C. F. 168195, adopted April 29, 1954 (published May 1, 1954)
directed the Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds And Public Build-
ings to enter upon the premises and wreck and remove the three
story brick building thereon and do all things necessary for the
protection of life, limb, and adjoining property.

----C. F. 176012, adopted December 7, 1955 (published December 10,
1955) approved the specifications prepared by the City Archite t ,
for the wrecking of this building and authorized the Purchasin
Agent to advertise for bids.

C. F. 176310, adopted by the Council January 6, 1956 (Publish-
ed January 14, 1956) approved the award of the contract for
wrecking to Minnesota Floor Surfacing Co. for the sum of
$1,593.00 in accordance with the specifications and formal
bid No. 5518.
C. F. 176622, adopted January 31, 1956 (published February 4,
1956) authorized the Department of Parks, Playgrounds And Pub-
lic Buildings to do the wrecking and provided that the wrecking
expense of $1,593.00 (the lowest bid) and the expenses of the
Department of $43.82, making a total of $1,636.82, be paid out
of General Fund Item 31 G 23, and in the event that this sum
proves collectible from the owner, same is to be credited to
31 G 23.
This building was wrecked and Registered Bill No. 4 1460 was
mailed to the owners March 27, 1956.
We are requesting you to hold a public hearing with ten
days notice to consider any complaints about the expenses
incurred and to confirm the amount. The Council resolution
confirming the expenses should end with a directive to the
City Clerk to file a statement of expense for the purpose of
securing a lien on the property.
