WHEREAS, The City Clerk has reported, in accordance with Section 53
of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the
period from April 4th to April 28th which rendered necessary the
employment of certain employees of the City Clerk's Office for
more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing
the following work:
Preparing for the City General Election of April 24th.
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts
and circumstances:
The office was open uati+1,: :30 P. K. for absent voters
Saturday, April 21st; the office was open until 9:00 P.M. three
nights for instruction meetings for judges, and for judges to
pick up their supplies; the employees in the warehouse worked
overtime preparing the voting machines before the election;
The employees worked overtime several nights to complete the
registrations and changes of address.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorised to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance Ho. 6446. MAY 1
