WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from June 1st to June 15th 1956 inc., which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Water
Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per —
week in doing the following work:
(1) Operating new billing and posting machines.
(2) Supervising opening and putting into operation New Hazel Park
Pumping Stations
(3) Supervising repairs to water mains, various locations.
AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
•
(1) Necessary to work on Saturday in order to get up to date on new
post card billing.
(2) Necessary to stay at station in order to be sure that everything
was operating satisfactorily.
(3) In order to put mains back in service as quickly as possible.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance
with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance
No. 6446.
