OFFICE OF THE L1 i,— - ?' .� COUNCIL RESOLUTION--1 ,NIP, �� ,-� $ PRESENTED BY v COMMISSIONE DATF i ice' � 1 w' WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul has studied the League of Minnesota Municipalities Committee Report on Constitutional Revision, and has more specifically studied the Subcommittee 's proposal entitled NA bill for an act proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Minnesota relating to local government by adding a new article XI, repealing Article IV, Section 36, and the present Article XI, and repealing inconsistent provisions of Article IV, Section 33, and WHEREAS, the League's Legislative and Exedutive Committed, meeting in joint session as the Legislative Screening Committee, on May 18, 1956, recommended to the League's Legislative Conference, to be held at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on June 13, 1#, and 15, 1956, that the proposed legislation be recommended by the League to the 1957 session of the Minnesota State Legislature, and . WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, through its Mayor and City Council, opposed similar legislation during the 1955 session of the Minnesota State Legislature, and 1S, the present Council, after duly studying- said: League proposal, believes that the objections raised during the 1955 session by the City of Saint Paul have no been eliminated by any amendments which have been proposed in he League 's new bill to be presented to the 1957 session of th Minnesota State Legislature, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Council of the City ofjSaint Paul opposes the adoption by the League Legislative Confers co of said suggested legislation, the Council being confident, in this resolution, that the proposed legislation is not to the best interests of the City of Saint Paul nor its citizens; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to the League 's Legislative Confe ence at its session at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on June 13, 14 and 15,. 1956.
