RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held by and before the
Council of the City of Saint Paul, In the Council Chamber of
the Court House and City Hall, in said City, at ten o'clock a.m. ,
on June 20, 1956, upon the advisability and necessity of the
repair, replacement, remodeling, or wrecking and removal of the
abandoned filling station on the following property:
All that part of Lot 1 easterly of the following
described line: Commencing at a point on the
southerly line of said lot 53.80 feet westerly
from southeasterly corner thereof, thence northerly
39.5 feet to a point 54.33 feet westerly from easterly
line of said lot, thence northeasterly 33.54 feet to
a point on the northerly line of said lot., 44.95 feet
westerly from the northeasterly corner thereof, Lot
One (1) , Rearrangement of Part of Block Sixty-two (62)
Of Irvine 's Enlargement to Rice & Irvine's Addition,
City of Saint Paul, according to the plat thereof
recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of
Ramsey County, Minnesota,
also described as 257-259 West Fifth Street, because said structure
is reported to be dangerous and unsafe to life, limb and adjoining
property.

Gentlemen:
We have been observing the abandoned filling station on
the northwest corner of Fifth and Smith, known as 257-9
West Fifth Street, for a number of years. It is described
as All that part of Lot 1 Ely of the following described
line: Commencing at a point on the Sly line of said lot
53.80 feet Wly from SEly corner thereof, thence Nly 39.5
feet to a point 54.33 feet Wly from Ely line of said lot,
thence NEly 33.54 feet to a point on the Nly line of said
Lot 44.95 feet Wly from the NEly corner thereof, Lot 1,
Rearrangement of Part of Block 62 of Irvine's Enlargement
to Rice & Irvine's Addition, City of St. Paul.
This building is approximately 14 by 12 by 16, of brick.
It is in a very dilapidated condition, windows and doors
are open and broken out and the interior is filled with
rubbish. It should be wrecked and removed as it is dan-
gerous to life, limb, and adjoining property.
A Danger Notice has been posted and the last known record
owner is John E. Blomquist, Inc. , 712 Empire Building.
Please set a hearing in accordance with Section 107.2 of
the Building Code, which section outlines condemnation
procedure.
