An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsi-
bilities and the minimum qualifications for the various
classes of positions in the Classified Service of the City,"
approved February 13, 1935, as amended. This is an emergency
ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace,
health and safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by
striking out the minimum qualifications for Senior Civil Engineer and
substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"College graduation in civil engineering and six years'
professional engineering experience, at least two years of
which must have been as an assistant civil engineer. Must
be a registered professional engineer in the State of Minnesota.
(No substitution for education. )11
Section 2. That said ordinance, as amended, be and the same
Dr hereby further amended by striking out the specifications for
Engineering Inspector and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"(This title abolished except as to present incumbents. )"

CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR
Duties and responsibilities:
Under direction, to perform important routine sub-professional
work in the investigation, construction, inspection and test-
ing of engineering work; and to perform related work as
assigned.
Examples of work performed:
Following plans and methods already established, or prescribed
by superiors, and with responsibility for the accuracy of
tests, observations, measurements, and computations--
To make field tests and inspections of materials, such as con-
crete, aggregates and asphalt paving aggregates.
To inspect operations and processes to see that they are carried
out in accordance with plans and specifications.
To supervise at times the work of engineering aides.
To make reports and estimates.
Minimum qualifications:
High school graduation and six years' experience in the design,
construction or inspection of public works projects, at least
three years of which must have been in-the-field experience
as an inspector or supervisor. "
Section 4. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace,
health and safety.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage, approval and publication.
