In the Matter of repaving Fifth Street from Jackson Street to Broadway by removing
present sandstone wearing course and concrete base; by removing track pavement including
rails and ties; by constructing new concrete base and asphaltic concrete surfacing; by paving
alley and driveway returns; by constructing new curbing and sidewalks where necessary; by
constructing sewer, water and gas service connections from the street mains to the property
lines where necessary; reconstructing the paving, curbing and sidewalks on the intersecting
streets where not in conformity with said improvement; by constructing donduits and appurten-
ances for future lighting and traffic control systems where necessary; and by doing all
other work which is necessary and incidental to said improvement,
under Preliminary Order 175726 Approved November 10, 1955
The Council of the City of St. Paul having received the report of the Commissioner of Finance
upon the above improvement, and having considered said report, hereby resolves:
1. That the said report and the same is hereby approved and adopted, and the said improvement
is hereby ordered to be proceeded with.
2. That the nature of the improvement which the Council recommends is repave Fifth Street
from Jackson Street to Broadway by removing present sandstone wearing course and'concrete
base; by removing track pavement including rails and ties; by constructing new concrete
base and asphaltic concrete surfacing; by paging alley and driveway returns; by constructing
new curbing and sidewalks where necessary; by constructing sewer, water and gas service
connections from the street mains to the property lines where necessary; reconstructing
the paving, curbing and sidewalks on the intersecting streets where not in conformity with
said improvement; by constructing conduits and appurtenances for future lighting and traffic
control systems where necessary; and by doing all other work which is necessary and inciden-
tal to said improvement,
with no alternatives, and that the estimated cost thereof is $ 87,697'78
Resolved Further, That a public hearing be had on said improvement on the 10th day of
April , 196 at the hour of 10 o'clock A. M., in the Council Chamber of the Court
House and City Hall Building in the City of St. Paul. That the Commissioner of Finance give notice of
said meeting to the persons and in the manner provided by the Charter, stating the time and place of
hearing, the nature of the improvement and the total cost thereof as estimated.
