and its accesses from East Seventh Street (T.H. 5) to Plato Boulevard starting in October
5 WHEREAS, MN/DOT and their consultants have worked with City staff and a City appointed Citizens
6 Advisory Committee (CAC) to address City safety and aesthetics concerns and have submitted a final
7_layout to the Ciry for review, comment and municipal consent, and
9 WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 161.164 requires the City to hold a public hearing prior to providing
10 municipal consent and provide a 30 day notice prior to holding the public hearing, and
11
12 THEI2EFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City will hold a public hearing on the Lafayette Bridge
13 Replacement project (S.P. 6244-3Q) at the scheduled June 16, 2010 City Council meeting.

Initiating Problem, Issues, Opportunity (Who, What, When, Where, Why):
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) plans to replace the frachu critical Lafayette Bridge (T.H. 52) from East
Seventh Street to Plato BouLevazd in October 2010. To meet tlus schedule the City needs to provide municipal consent of the
submitted final layout by the end of June. The last scheduled City Council public hearing in June is June 16, 2010. A 30 day notice is
required prior to the public hearing, so the resolurion setting the public hearing needs to be approved on May 12, 2010.
Advantages If Approved:
The public hearing will be scheduled to take input on MnDOT's layout, addxess issues, provide municipal consent and keep the
important State project on schedule.
Disadvaniages IfApproved:
None.
Disadvantages !f NM �pprrned:
The MnDOT Lafayette Bridge Replacement project will be delayed. Lafayette Bridge is a fracture crirical structure that is in need of
replacement as soon as possible.
