RE50LUTION RELATING TO THE FINANCING OF SPORTS STADIUMS, SUPPORTING
REGIONALISM, AND PROVIDING DEBT RELIEF.
5 WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature is considering options for financing a portion of the costs
6 associated with the construction of a new state-of-the-art football stadium; and
WHEREAS, any new stadium ought to be designed to accommodate a variety of events beyond a limited
number of home games; and

11 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has expressed support for a new regional ballpark to accommodate the
12 Saint Pau1 Saints and wide range of other activities including amateur sports; and

14 WHEREAS, The City of Saixtt Paul has expressed support for the "Pond," which will serve as a practice
1� facility for the Wild, and that will accommodate youth hockey as well as many other related acYivities; and

17 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has sought debt relief for the RiverCentrefXcel arena because these are
18 economic engines of Saint Paul and are in need of additional anvestment; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the recent construction of Target Field and TCF Stadium represent over a billion dollars of
21 investment and the stadiusn proposal also includes mlllions of dollars for the Tazget Center.

NOW, THEI2EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that as part of any legislation that facilitates the construction of
a new football stadium, the City of Saint Paul strongly encourages the Saint Paul Legislative Delegation
only to support a bill Yhat has regional balance and oppose any stadium bill thaY does not address the needs
of Saint Paul or that further places the East MeYro at a compeYitive disadvantage.
