5. Appeal of CMB Properties to a Summary Abatement Order for property at 335 Manolia
Avenue East.
Mr. Essling stated that the property was inspected on March 23, 2010 and a summary abatement
order was issued to remove accumulated refuse including boxes, cushions, and debris from the yard
with a compliance date of March 29, 2010. He presented a photo of the violation. Ms. Moermond
commented that it appeared it was moving day and possibly the items had been dumped on the
property.
Marta Bradshaw appeared on behalf of her mother-in-law, Mary Jo Meadow, the property owner.
She said she helped manage the property and were preparing it for a new tenant to move in. Her
husband had been working on the house and found that someone had dumped a pile of junk in the
backyard. She said it was extremely frustrating that people dumped and then they were responsible
for paying to have junk removed. That was why she filed the appeal.
Ms. Moermond suggested some possible ways to deter people from dumping on the property such
as moving the fence closer to the edge of the alley, installing additional lighting, and installing
cameras. She recommended denying the appeal and granting an extension to April 14 to come into
compliance.

Ms. Moermond suggested some possible ways to deter people from dumping on the property such
as moving the fence closer to the edge of the alley, installing additional lighting, and installing
cameras. She recommended denying the appeal and granting an extension to April 14 to come into
compliance.
