OFFICErr ,r =. , C• IL R ' c s `AL FORM PRESENTED BY `�. ° t�r DATF COMMISSIONS � -_ �� .� � � ��� _ WHEREAS, The Commissioner o ° 'lie PP' Works has reported, in accordance with Sec- tion 53 of the City Ch• r,er, the existence of an emergency during the per- iod from December 16 t• 31, 1955, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the followingwork: Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repairs Dispatching men for emergency repair work Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work Operating equipment on emergency repair work Emergency calls for sewer maintenance Removing snow and ice from city streets Tending fires at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays Emergency garbage pickup Taking care of complaints at city yards Drawing plans & specifications for grading jobs Mimeographing grade profiles Servicing municipal equipment Making up sidewalk assessments Inspecting city jobs done by contractors Overseeing inmates at workhouse And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum- stances: Necessity of answering all emergency calls, keeping city streets free from snow and ice, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuouly picking up garbage, taking complaints at city yards, completing plans for grading jobs, need for grade profiles, completing side- walk assessments, keeping city equipment in good running condition, inspecting work done by contractors and overseeing inmates at workhouse.
