Hon. Council
City of St. Paul
Gentlemen:
This office has made an inspection of the combination
store and apartment building and also the garage at
740-2 Rondo Street, described as Lot 1, Block 7, Edwin
Dean's 2d Addition.
This is a two story frame and brick veneer building,
approximately 70 by 44 by 22 feet. The brick veneer
is bulging on all sides and is a definite hazard as
the upper part of the east wall collapsed in October.
The plumbing and electrical installations are in poor
shape. Plaster and lath are falling. There is a dirt
floor in the basement and the foundation is of limestone
in poor condition. A bathroom on the second floor is
heated with a gas plate and hose connection. A stair
handrail is tied with baling wire.
The garage roof has sagged and the building is over fifty
per cent depreciated.
Both these buildings are dilapidated, deteriorated beyond
reasonable repair and should be wrecked and removed.
The last known record owner is Annie Turner, 854 Burr
Street, and contract purchaser is Rev. J. W. Phelps,
7 W. Co. Rd. C, St. Paul 17.
Danger Notices have been posted and we ask that you in-
stitute condemnation action by setting a hearing in ac-
cordance with Section 107.2 of the building code.
Yours truly, /
