RESOLUTION
SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA
Presented by
WHEREAS, on March 27, 2010, the John A. Johnson High School boys' basketball team became the
Minnesota State High School 3A Champions, successfully completing their perfect season of 32 wins and
0 losses; and,
WHEREAS, the Governors team included Coach Vernon Simmons, Assistant Coaches Colin Moore and
Anthony Williams, Captains Demitri Conwell, Max Rosenbloom, and Donte Warlick and skilled players
Jalen Allbritton, Shelby Ashford, Xavier Black, Devonte Durr, Xavier Henry, Anthony Lee, Marcus
Marshall, Jardan Pluff, Roosevelt Scott, Quashingm Smith, Chris Smith-Bond, Estan Tyler, Darius
Watson, Prince Williams - all the players are East Side residents; and,

WHEREAS, the Governors, having played together yeaz-round far the past three years, became know�z far
their team chemistry, and selfless play, with no individual heroes and no stars. They wore down their
opponents witb a deep bench of talent, trapping, pxessing and tbeir tenacious play; and,
WHEREAS, Johnson High School has created a dynasty, winning the last seven straighY Saint Paul City
Conference championships, with 20 or more wins each season. They also have gone to the Minnesota
State High School tow�nament five of those years placing fourth (twice), third last year, and of course, first
in 2010!; and,
20 WHEREAS, the Johnson Governors, by virtue of becoming the 2010 Minnesota State High School 3A
21 Champions, and having earlier defeated Hopkins, who would later become the 4A champions, have proven
22 that they are the very best basketball team in the whole state of Minnesota; now

THEREFORE BE TT RESOLVED, that April 21, 2010 be forever known in the City of Saint Paul as
GOVERNORS'BASKETBALL DAY
26 in honor of the skill, hard work, and tenacity displayed by these exemplary young men from the Bast Side.
