WHEREAS, provision has been made by Chapter 144, Laws
of 1953, for the reconveyance of a portion of tax-forfeited
lands acquired for public use when such portions are no longer
required, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that it having been shown to the Council that
a portion of the premises acquired under State Deed No. 26026,
which portion is legally described as
(except the south 97.32 feet) Lot 11, Block 2,
G. V. Bacon' s Subdivision, and (except the
south 97.32 feet) that part of Lot 10 in said
Block 2 lying west of a southerly extension of
the east line of Lot 9 of "Buel & Mackubin"
out lots, in Town 29, Range 23,
is no longer required for public use, the proper Cit officers
are hereby authorized to convey said portion to the tate of
Minnesota, in trust, as provided in Minnesota Statut s 1949,
Sec'tion 281.25, under the provisions of Minnesota Statutes 1949,
Section 282.01, Sub. 1, as amended by Chapter 144, Laws of 1953.

Gentlemen and Madam:
The Legislature, by Chapter 11411, Laws of
1953, authorized the reconveyance of portions of tax-forfeited
lands acquired for public use, subject to the approval of the
Commissioner of Taxation. The land described as
(except the south 97.32 feet) Lot 11, Block 2, G.
V. Bacon's Subdivision, and (except the south 97.32
feet) that part of Lot 10 in said Block 2 lying
west of a southerly extension of the east line of
Lot 9 of "Buel & Mackubin" out lots, in Town 29,
Range 23,
was included in the deed conveying, among other properties, a
portion of the playground site formerly used for emergency
housing at Carroll Avenue and Oxford Street.
This parcel is a strip approximately 32.1
feet wide and approximately 62.3 feet in length and is not re-
quired for development of the playground site. The adjoining
owner has asked that this parcel be offered for sale in order
that he may square off his holdings, consisting of apartment
houses located at the southeast corner of Rondo Avenue and
Lexington Parkway.
Under the circumstances I recommend that
this parcel described be reconveyed to the State so that it
may be offered for sale as tax-forfeited land.
