WHEREAS, The City Clerk has reported, in accordance with Section 53
of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the
period from August 8, to August 31, 1956 which rendered necessary
the employment of certain employees of the City Clerk's Office
for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in
doing the following work:
Preparing for the County & State Primary Election of
Sept. 11th, 1956.
AND WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
The office was required by law to remain open until 9 .P.M.
August 11th to August 21st for registration of voters.
Employees in the voting machine warehouse worked Saturdays
and nights preparing the voting machines.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
