Mr. Urmann stated that the window arders being appealed were not included on the orders provided by the appellant; he read the window arders from Amanda. He said all of the windows were the same and the openable dimensions were 20 inches high by 25 inches wide, with a 38 inch glazed area. Ms. Moermond confirmed with the appellants that they had received the complete letter and orders; she said there appeared to have been a copying error. Ms. Moermond recommended granting a 4-inch variance on the openable height of the bedroom egress windows in Units 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. 4. Appeal of 7ason MacDonald to a Code Compliance Inspection Report for property at 486 Stinson Street Appellant 7ason MacDonald (506 N. Lexington Parkway, St. Paul, MN 55104) appeared. Mr. MacDonald stated that he was only appealing the ceiling height requirement in the upper level front room. He said the inspector had noted it at the final inspection and suggested he appeal, Ms. Moermond reviewed the code compliance report and said there was an item stating that the upper level, north room was not a legal sleeping room; she asked whether that was the item being appealed. Mr. MacDonald said Mr. Seeger had advised him to appeal the back bedrooms as well. He described the ceiling heights and layout of the upper 1eve1, and said those were the only items remaining to be signed off on. Ms. Moermond said she was comfortable granting a variance far the 6' 10" ceiling height, but that 6'2" was not very high. She asked whether half of the floor space was covered by the 6'2" ceiling. Mr. MacDonald said the room didn't feel claustrophobic. 10-30� February 23, 2010 Property Code Minutes Page 2 Ms. Moerniond asked how rnany bedrooms there were. Mr. MacDonald said there was one on the main floor and three-plus upstairs. Ms. Moermond recommended granting a 1.5-inch variance on the ceiling height requirement in the upper level back bedrooms and denying the appeal of the ceiling height requirement for the upper level front bedroom. Appeal of Patrick Hoy, Window World, to the denial of a building permit to replace egress windows for property at 2145 Valley View Place (Rescheduled from Feb. 16). Staff report only Mr. Urmann said he had the Building Deparhnent fill out their forai more clearly. He said it appeared there were two sliding windows with openable dimensions of 25 inches high by 18 inches wide and a 52-inch sill heighY, and one double-hung window with openable dimensions of 16 inches high by 24 inches wide and a 40-inch sili height. Ms. Moermond recommended granting a 2-inch variance on the openable width of the two sliding windows, and denying the appeal on the double hung window and on the sill height of the sliding windows. A step must be permanently affixed below the sliding windows to address sill height.
