Approved b e WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from August 16, 1956 to August 31, 956 inclusive which rendered necessary the employment of certain eF•loyees of the Department of Public Utilities for more than eight ho s per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Checking bus schedules and loadings, Supervising the activities of the City Market, an. Making concrete block tests, and WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts d circum- stances: Submission by the Street Railway Company of propos:d schedule changes, Saturday work made nectssary because of increased activity at the City Market, and Completion of tests requiring continuous attention, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized tol pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro- visions of the Council's Salary ordinance, Ordinance Np. 6446.
