WHEREAS, the Young Elected Officials (YEO) Network has invited Councilmember Melvin Carter to
participate in the 2010 YEO National Convening, held May 13-16, 2010, for the purpose of gathering
young, elected officials from azound the country to engage in networking, personal and professional skill
building, and to share innovative policy and resources; and
6 WHEREAS, the Young Elected Officials Network has offered to provide three nights lodging, and has
7 granted a scholazship for 75% of travel expenses, totaling no more than $400, for Councilmember Carter to
8 attend said event; now

] 0 THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED, that ihe Saint Paul City Council on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paul,
1 l accepts the gift of lodging and travel from the Young Elected Officials Network and appropriates it to the
13 public purpose of Councilmember Carter's attendance at the 2010 YEO National Convening; and be it
14 FINALLY RE50LVEA, that the City Council determines this to have public purpose and the Council
15 extends its thanks and appreciation to the Young Elected Officials Network for its generosity and public
16 service in this matter.
