Presented
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has obtained State funding through
the L,essazd-Sams Conservation Partners L,egacy (CPL) grant program for activities that restore or enhance
habitat for fish, game, or wildlife on lands permanently protected by conservation easement or public
ownership; and
6 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is eligible for grant funding to enhance and manage native oak
7 woodland on City parkland within the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area; and
8
9 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Department of Parks and Recreation was provided City Council
10 permission to seek CPL funding under Council File #09-1190 and has since been awarded $125,000
11 through the CPL pmgcam; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the gzant agreement requires that the grantee indemnify the State, its agents and
14 employees from any claims ar causes of action arising from performance of the grant agreement; and
15
16 WHEREAS, ttte Saint Pau1 City Council finds that accepting the grant funds will fulfill ecological
17 principles of habitat restoration; and
18
19 WHEREAS, the expenditure of public funds, which includes the promise of indemnificauon, for
20 such a purpose will facilitate and enable it to take place; now, therefore, be it
21
22 RESOLVED, that the appropriate city officials are hereby autt�orized to enter into the attached
23 grant agreement, which includes an indemnification clause and to accept the funds on behalf of the City.
