WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Safety has reported, in
accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from November 1, 1956 to November
15, 1956, which rendered necessary the employment of certain em-
ployees of the Department of Public Safety for more than eight
hours per day, or forty hours per week, in doing the following
work:
Care of women prisoners at the City Jail and awl,ABERESS,
this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum-
stances:
To replace employees on sick leave and vacation,
temEREPORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the proper city officers
• are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such
work in accordance with the provision of the Councilts Salary
Ordinance No. 6446.
