WHEREAS, The City Clerk has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of
the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from
October 17 to November 7 which rendered necessary the employment of
certain employees of the City Clerks Office for more than eight pours
per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work:
Preparing for the Election of November 6th.
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
The office was open three nights until nine PM for
instruction meetings for the Judges and to give
supplies to the Judges.
Employees in the Warehouse worked overtime placing and
raising the machines preparing for the official canvass.
Employees worked until 1:30 A.M. election night sorting
the returns and supplies.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper City Officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance
with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance
No. 6446.
