WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from October 16th to October 31st 1956 inc.,
which rendered necessary the mployment of certain employees of the
Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per
week in doing the following work:
i) Repairing Filtration Plant equipment.
2 Working extra shifts at Mississippi River Station.
3) Finishing installation of, and repairing water mains, hydrants
and service connections.
rTaking emergency calls at Storeyard.
) Taking country crew to and from work.
(6) Treating lakes with copper sulphate.
AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
(1) Necessary to do work. during low consumption hours.
2 Extra shifts necessary on account of daily shut-down by Power Company.
(3) In .order to give water and fire protection to consumers.as quickly
as possible.

6 In order to be able to move to another location next day.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized
to pay the.employees who performed such work in accordanee,with the
provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance No. 61+1+6.
