1 WHEREAS, Tl�e National Endowment for the Arts has a Mayor's Institute on City Design with a

2 25 Anniversary Initiative Grant Program; and

4 W�IEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is one of only eight Minnesota cities eligible to apply for this
5 program; and
7 WHEREAS, Saint Paul's innovative Artists' District has become a national model for urban
S revitalizatlon; and

10 WHEREAS, this NEA grant oppoftunity could support asset mapping, artists' community
11 planning, promotion of this artists' district, and the exploration of innovative approaches that maximize the
12 economic growth of out community's creative sector; and
13
14 WHEREAS, arts and culture contribute greatly as core components in building livable and
15 sustainable communities; now, therefore, be it
16
17 RESOLVED, that the appropriate City staff members are hereby authorized to submit an
18 application and supporting materials in pursuit of this federal grant.
