to install and operate a parking lot for customers and employees
on Lot 9, Block 52, Rice and Irvine's Addition, on the north
side of West Seventh Street between Walnut and Chestnut Streets,
in accordance with applicant's plans dated August 23, 1956,
subject to the condition that the structural chracteristics
of the retaining wall be approved by the Building Department
prior to use of said premises for parking facilities, and
subject to the further condition that sidewalks abutting said
premises be kept clean and free of ice and snow at all times.

This is in the matter of the application of the J & J Corporation for a
permit to establish a parking lot•• for customers and employees on Lot 9,
Block 52, Rice Is Irvines Additionj. This property is located adjacent to
the north side of W. 7th Street between Chestnut and Walnut and is also
known as 245-247 W. 7tb Street. the zoning is Commercial.
The property is presently vacant and has a frontage of 50' on W. 7th
and the lot extends to the depth Of 165' . This lot will be used for an
employee and customer parking lot incident to the restaurant which is
located directly to the west. It will have a capacity of about 30 cars.
The applicant has found it necessary to construct retaining walls at
the boundaries of this property in order to make the land useable for
parking purposes. Field investigation discloses no objection to this
facility at this point on the basis of adjacent land use or traffic.
The Zoning Board recommends, therefore, that this permit be granted in
accordance with the applicant's plans dated August 23, 1956, subject
to the condition that the structual characteristics of the retaining
wall be approved by the Building Department prior to its use for park-
ing facilities.
