WHEREAS, Fred A. Driver, then Deputy Commissioner in
the Department of Public Utilities of the City of Saint Paul,
and then and for many years next prior thereto serving with
distinction in various City positions, including Superintend-
ent of School Buildings, Superintendent of Sanitation, and
as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Public Works,
and of the Department of Finance, on the 27th day of September
1956, in his seventy-second year of life, was summoned from
this life by Almighty God, after extensive and consistently
meritorious service on behalf of the City of Saint Paul, and in
the Ancient Landmark Lodge of the Masons, the Royal Arch Masons,
the Damascus Commandery, the Osman Temple Shrine and its Drum
Corps, and as Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and
in numerous civic and charitable fields, and
WHEREAS, his death has occasioned great loss to the
Cityof Saint Paul and its inhabitants, and a great sense of
deprivation and grief to his surviving spouse and family, be
it hereby
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul
in its own behalf and in behalf of the City of Saint Paul and
its citizens, hereby takes and records cognizance of the
aforesaid extensive, prominent and meritorious career of said
Fred A. Driver, in permanent attestation thereof, and extends
sympathy and condolence to his bereaved surviving spouse and
family, and authorizes and directs the City Clerk to provide
for the preparation of an engrossed copy of this resolution
and the delivery thereof to the surviving spouse of said Fred
A. Driver, with all convenient speed.
