RESOLVED, That the Council hereby concurs in the recommendation •f the Contract
Committee in awarding contract for furnishing all labor, materials and services necessary
for or reasonably incidental to the replacement of all return lines, steam traps, and
miscellaneous fittings in the Greenhouse heating system and replacement of return lines,
steam traps and miscellaneous fittings for the North and South Houses, Palm House and
Rock Garden located at Como Park, St. Paul, Minnesota, to AXEL NEWMAN HEATING & PLUMBING
CO. in accordance with City plans and specifications therefor hereto attached and the
Formal Bid #6055 of said Axel Newman Heating & Plumbing Co. for the contract price of
$4,805.00, such bid being the lowest and said Axel Newman Heating & Plumbing Co. being
the lowest reasonable and reliable bidder and the Corporation Counsel be and hereby is
directed to draw up the proper form of contract therefor, and the proper City officials
hereby are authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the City of St.Paul.

RESOLVED, that Lawrence J. Walden be paid the sum
of $1,012.00 out of the Workmen's Compensation Account of the
General Fund, in full settlement of his claim against the City
of Saint Paul resulting from his injury of January 6, 1956,
while employed by the Department of Public Works, whereby
he suffered 100 per cent permanent partial disability to the
fourth finger of his right hand, or 20 weeks of total disability,
and a permanent partial disability of the third finger of his
right hand of 80 per cent of 25 weeks of total disability,
or 20 weeks, and an additional 15 per cent of 40 weeks of
total disability for multiple injuries of two or more members,
or 6 weeks, being a total of 46 weeks at $40.00 per week,
or $1840.00, less $828.00 which has been paid to Mr. Walden
in partial settlement, or $1012.00, to be paid at the rate of
$40.00 per week at intervals of four weeks, commencing October
8, 1956.

Gentlemen:
Under date of November 5, 1956 a printed copy of
Council File No. 180204 was mailed to Geo. A. and
Barbara Meyers, 419 Superior St., St. Paul 2, and
a copy to Haines Sabean, County Welfare Board, 1615
City Hall, St. Paul 2, and Mr. Wm. W. Fink, Atty. ,
285 Endicott on Robert, St. Paul 1, which resolution
directed the wrecking and removal of the single
family frame dwelling on the West 30 feet of the East
85 feet of Lot 4, Block 22, E. H. Hawke's Subdivision
to Winslow's Addition to the Town of St. Paul, Minne-
sota, also known as 419 Superior Street, as published
in the official paper.
No appeal has been filed with this office for a rehear-
ing of the condemnation proceedings and the building
has not been removed. Please proceed with the condem-
nation action which will authorize the Commissioner
of Public Buildings to enter upon the property and
wreck and remove the building thereon, and do any and
all things therein necessary for the protection of life,
limb, and adjoining property.
