Welter*Lrleekrio • .. is one of the awl,: p.•4ze .;,I° ,.,. ..f WHEREAS , Wesftern Electric Company is one of the major employers in the City of Saint Paul, and said Western Electric Company has indicated that because of the termination of Government contracts , they will have to lay off a large number of their employees and curtail a large part of their operation; and WHEREAS , the people of the City of Saint Paul want to do everything in their power to keep this fine company in full operation in the City of Saint Paul, and all the other fine co •anies operating in the City of Saint- Paul and the State of innesota; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that Mayor Joseph E. Dillon is authorized and requested to go to Washington, D. C. and to confer with Senators Hubert H. Hum. rey and Edward J. Thye, and Represenative Eugene J. McCarthy an• other Minnesota representatives, with a view toward obtaining their help and cooperation in continuing the operation of the Western Electric Company in the City of Saint Paul, as well as the continuance of operations of all the present industries in the State of Minnesota, and to encourage the locatior of new industries in the State of Minnesota.
