10-167Council File # ��– ((1 Green Sheet # qpqRq7� T PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented by la- 1 WHEREAS, the Minnesota D artme of Natural Resources is providing grants to local units of 2 government through the Federal Recreational Trail Program for the development and maintenance of 3 recreational trails and trail-related projects, and 5 WHEREAS, funding for this grant program is from the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Equity Act: 6 A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). The Act provides funding from the Federal Highway Trust Fund in 7 acknowledgment of off-road recreation fuel use, and 8 9 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking approval to submit a 10 grant application requesting $150,000 through this program to provide for trail maintenance and 11 improvements for Mississippi River Boulevard trail, and 12 13 WHEREAS, the funding will result in an improved trail with upgrades for safety, and to provide a better 14 user experience, and 15 16 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Department of Parks and Recreation has matching requirements for the 17 Federal Recreational Trail Program, and has identified tbe matching funds to be provided through the I 8 proposed 2010/ 2011 Capital Improvement Budget program, and 19 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, if the City of Saint Paul is awarded the grant by the Minnesota 21 Department of Natural Resources, the City of Saint Paul agrees to accept the grant award, and may enter 22 into an agreement with the State of Minnesota for the above referenced project.
