WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Minnesota, b
the passage of Chapter 237, Laws of 1957, has made it
permissible to close the Court House and City Hall on
Saturdays; and
WHEREAS, the Joint Court House and City Hall Committer
has recommended that the City Hall and Court House of the
City of Saint Paul and the County of Ramsey be closed on
Saturdays, commencing Saturday, May 4+, 1957; now therefore
be it
RESOLVED, that all City offices in the City Hall and
Court Huse be closed for official business on Saturdays,
commencing on Saturday, May 4, 1957; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City offices of record rem4n
open for business on Mondays until 7:30 p.m. , and that the
City offices remaining open on Monday evenings keep an
official account of the traffic of actual business after
4:30 p.m. on Mondays, and that such accounting be reported
to. the Joint Cour_ 1iouse and City Hall Committee prior to
said Committee 's meeting on June 7, 1957.

the attached letter of the County Auditor with respect to Saturday
closing of the City and County Offices in the Court House and Mondayevening
opening of the building for a i+-week trial period. The Council req sted
